The Helping Hands 2013 Project has been divided into three (3) project sites covering (34) sub-projects which are described in further detail below. They are all located within each the community parks as noted. Overall the project will assist the community in enhancing and beautifying this highly visited, family oriented parks.

Sub-Project 1: Park Tables & Benches (Paint/Replace)
This family project allows you to fix, sand, repair, paint or replace worn planks on picnic tables or benches. Wear an old shirt and come ready to get messy. Hand tools and paintbrushes are needed. Great project for anyone who can use a sander, paintbrush or screwdriver.
Sub-Project 2: Baseball Field (Renovation)
Love to play baseball? Come help us renew the field. Upgrade the infield and pictures mound, and fill in any holes with fresh dirt and grass seed.
Sub-Project 3: Volleyball Court (Renovate/Repair)
Come help us completely renovate the volleyball area by removing the weeds and existing sand, cleaning up the edging and adding new sand. This project is for those capable of moderate to hard work. Good strong backs ages 8 to 80 are welcome.
Sub-Project 4: North Fence/Tree Wells (Weed Abatement)
Project involves weeding all around trees and pruning suckers. It also involves pruning and cleaning along the private fences along the north side of the park.
Sub-Project 5: Sidewalks & Gutters (Edge/Clean)
Sidewalks and large walkways throughout the park need to be edged. The gutters on the streets surrounding the park also need to cleaned. Brooms, gas edgers and blowers, rakes and shovels will be the tools for this project. Safety Glasses too!
Sub-Project 6: Irrigation Sprinklers (Replace)
This specialized project involves digging up existing irrigation system lines, lifting some lines and adding new sprinkler heads. Strong backs and experience with irrigation systems are appreciated.
Sub-Project 7: Improve Soccer Fields (Install Benches)
Love to play soccer? Do you have GAME? Then come help us renew the soccer field. We want to add 6 eight-foot long benches for the spectators and 6 15-foot benches for players!
Sub-Project 8: Trees (Planting)
Sacramento Tree Foundation is donating dozens of trees for planting around the edges of the park. Come learn the correct way to plant and care for these trees. Volunteers should be place trees into the ground, stake them and water them. Shovels and hoes will be needed.
Sub-Project 9: Playground Fibar (Add)
Like the look and feel of bark but not the splinters. Come help us fill the playground surface areas with all new engineered wood Fibar. Wheelbarrows and taps are welcome. This project may take all 4 hours but your efforts will be appreciated for years to come by all the children and parents that play here.
Sub-Project 10: Benches & BBQ (Install)
One new BBQ will be placed near the picnic tables. We will also be adding four new benches along the trail.
Sub-Project 11: Soccer Goals (Sand/Paint)
This project involves sanding and painting 5 soccer goals and replacing and painting 1 soccer goal. A great project for those who love the sport!
Sub-Project 12: Exercise Equipment (Install)
Looking for a project that will use all your lego building experience? This project requires the ability to use hand tools, power tools, creativity, patience and an ability to READ THE DIRECTIONS first. Three new fitness equipment will need to be built. If you are looking for a challenging project-this is it.
Sub-Project 13: Community Garden (Weed Abatement)
This labor intensive project includes removing the weeds and adding new soil in the Community Garden. Hands tools, wheelbarrows, shovels and rakes. Great project for youth!
Sub-Project 14: Horseshoe Pit (Install)
Install a new horseshoe pit for the enjoyment of all park visitors. This team will also install a second horseshoe pit int Hite Park under the direction of the project leader. Great work for motivated volunteers!
Sub-Project 15: Triangle Area (Weed Abatement)
Weed triangle area near playground area and fill it in with wood chips. A fun project for the whole family
Sub-Project 16: Dirt (Spread)
Love to play in the dirt? This project is for you! This project involves moving provided dirt throughout the park to fill holes, low spots and other areas that need a little work. Strong arms a plus!
Sub-Project 17: Setup (Valley Hi)
This project involves preparing for the day by setting up resources (EZ-ups, tables etc) used to support the activity. It also involves help raking down those same resources. Volunteers should plan on arriving at 6:30AM. Volunteers should also plan on being available for take down.
Sub-Project 1: Jogging Trail (Improve)
Whether you are a jogger or a speed walker come help us improve the pathway. Let's remove the weeds and old decomposed granite, square the edges and add new decomposed granite. Requires strong backs, wheelbarrows, shovels and rakes. Bring your hand tools and water bottles.
Sub-Project 2: Brick Planter (Repair/Weed)
Help us upgrade the large planter box with new bricks. 200 bricks will be cemented in place to update the entire structure. Should not take the entire 4 hours so look to help others finish up with their projects before the BBQ at noon.
Sub-Project 3: Jogging Trail Benches (Install)
This project involves adding three new benches along the jogging trail. A nice addition for those wanting to take a quick break.
Sub-Project 4: Tables & Benches (Refurbish)
This family project allows you to fix, sand, repair, paint or replace worn planks on picnic tables or benches. Wear and old shirt and come ready to get messy. Hand tools and paint brushes are needed.
Sub-Project 5: Playground Fibar (Add)
Like the look and feel of bark but not the splinters. Come help us fill the playground surface areas with all new engineered wood Fibar. Wheelbarrows and taps are welcome. This project may take all 4 hours but your efforts will be appreciated for years to come by all the children and parents that play here.
Sub-Project 6: Park Sign & Planter Area (Replant/Weed)
This project involves removing all old plants and weeds and planting need donated vegetation. A great project to use your green thumb!
Sub-Project 7: Irrigation System (Repair)
This specialized project involves digging up existing irrigation system lines, lifting some lines and adding new sprinkler heads. Strong backs and experience with irrigation systems are appreciated.
Sub-Project 8: Park & Tree Wells (Weed Abatement)

Hands tools, wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes and a gas-powered edger will be used. Volunteers should be able to walk long distances around the park while edging. Great project for families.

This project involves preparing for the day by setting up resources (EZ-ups, tables etc) used to support the activity. It also involves help raking down those same resources. Volunteers should plan on arriving at 6:30AM. Volunteers should also plan on being available for take down.

Sacramento Tree Foundation is donating 15 trees for planting around the edges of the park. Come learn the correct way to plant and care for these trees. Volunteers should be able to place trees into the ground, stake them and water them. Shovels and hoes will be needed.
Sub-Project 3: Entire Park & Double BBQ (Weed/Replace)
This labor intensive project includes removing the weeds and adding new soil and seed throughout the entire parkway. It also involves installing a new Double BBQ! Hands tools, wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes and a gas powered edger will be used. Volunteers should be able to walk long around the park while edging. Great project for families.
Sub-Project 4: Soccer Field Benches (Install)
This field needs more seating. Let's add 4 more benches for the fans.
